The country’s export revenue of fruit and vegetable export would likely to reach US$2.5 billion by the year-end, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) forecast. The ministry said the vegetable and fruit export value had experienced a significant growth over past 10 years, from US$235 million in 2005 to US$$1.8 billion in 2015. Australia has given the green light for fresh mango from Viet Nam to be imported into the country after years of negotiations, making it the second Vietnamese fruit, after litchi, to be imported into the country. The first batch of mango has arrived in Australia on 19 September. Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) is optimistic that the country will be able to export more fruits to choosy markets at higher prices this year. The ministry believes that the fruit export turnover in 2016 will reach over $2 billion, higher than the $1.8 billion last year. China is the biggest consumer of Vietnamese fruits.
